A quick Google search informs me that there are 1189 total chapters in the bible. If I keep my proposed schedule of one chapter per day, this project will last me approximately 3 and 1/4 years. Before I begin, I will be taking a sort of personal inventory to get a snapshot view of my spiritual strengths and weaknesses, areas in which I need growth, and life choices/habits that I need to change. I'll of course be keeping this information private in order to protect the integrity of my family, friends, coworkers, students, etc...
Periodically, throughout this endeavor, I'll try to reassess the same areas and see if any new areas need to be addressed. Because I'm my father's son, a spreadsheet might even be involved, with charts and everything! If there are any major changes (which I hope for and expect), I'll be sure to post what I can. I look forward to seeing a side-by-side comparison of this analysis today vs 3.25 years from now.
For anyone out there who's reading tonight, I'll be back tomorrow morning with my thoughts on Genesis 1. Stay tuned!

In The Beginning...
This blog looks too plain right now because I just started it... on my iPod, no less. I'll make the layout look a little better once I get a chance to access it from the PC. First, though, I wanted to share what the purpose of this blog is:
I plan to read through the bible one chapter per day and post my thoughts about each chapter. I'll be reading from the Holman Christian Standard Bible, and my plan is to start in Genesis and read in cover-to-cover order. I'm hoping to get feedback from readers, so please let me know what you think of my interpretations!
Why is this important to me? I've been neglecting my bible for far too long. That saddens me because the bible is the quickest and easiest way to receive the Word of God, which is a necessary component of life for those of us who have given our lives to Him. My hopes are that this blog will help me stay accountable (yes, I need readers to help me here), that it might help other believers who are struggling to connect with the Word, and that it might plant a seed for nonbelievers who might come across the blog.
Happy reading!
