Genesis 15

"Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness."
Genesis 15:6

The Lord makes a lot of promises or covenants with His people.  In most cases, this happens when the voice of the Lord comes to a person, either waking or in a dream.  Other times, these covenants are made through angels of the Lord or are written in stone.  No matter what the case is, we must listen to the voice of God and believe that He will follow through with His end of the bargain.

Many people think that the direct voice of God is a thing of the past, and that He no longer speaks directly to His people but rather uses the bible (His Word) as instruction.  I disagree.  If we believe that the Lord can speak to us, and that He lives with us in the temple of our bodies, then He most certainly does speak to us individually.

When God instructs, we must obey.  When God advises, we must choose wisely.  When God promises, we must believe that He will deliver on that promise - even if it might not be in the way we expect.  Abram believed that God would give the land to his offspring, and that his offspring would be as numerous as the stars, even though he and his wife had been unable to bear children.  That's the kind of faith that God deems righteous.
