"So Moses went back to the Lord and asked, 'Lord, why have You caused trouble for this people? And why did You ever send me? Ever since I went in to Pharaoh to speak in Your name he has caused trouble for this people, and You haven't delivered Your people at all.'"
Exodus 5:22-23
I like this because Moses doesn't discount God when He doesn't seem to be delivering on His promises. Instead, Moses asks the question, "Why?" So often, I see people around me giving up on God because they don't see Him acting on His promises immediately. Moses is bold enough to call Him out on it.
It's important to understand that, when God doesn't act immediately, there's always a reason. Sometimes it's because His people aren't ready. Other times it's because He needs to change the heart of one man first. He has all sorts of reasons that we'll never be able to understand, but asking Him why is an important part of a healthy relationship, just as it would be with another person. Many times, God asks us the same thing...
Question: Why aren't you fulfilling your promises to God? Why isn't God fulfilling His promises to you? Are the answers to these two questions linked in any way?
