"You must not exploit a foreign resident or oppress him, since you were foreigners in the land of Egypt."
Exodus 22:21
Many of the rules in this chapter make much more sense than the previous chapter. This particular quote reminds the Israelites of how they were mistreated and prohibits them from doing the same to others.
As for yesterday's laws, I'm still a little weirded out by some of them, but I'm beginning to come to grips with some as well. Maybe one day I'll do an in-depth study of all the Mosaic Laws and learn more about the culture of the time in doing so.
Question: Has God ever rescued you from a certain type of oppression? Have you ever turned around and used that same type of oppression on someone else?
