"You must be careful to do everything I command you; do not add anything to it or take anything away from it."
Deuteronomy 12:32
Let's take a quick look back at the Ten Commandments.
- Do not have other gods besides God.
- Do not make idols or worship idols.
- Do not misuse the Lord's name.
- Dedicate the Sabbath (work for six days and rest on the seventh).
- Honor your parents.
- Do not murder.
- Do not commit adultery.
- Do not steal.
- Do not lie.
- Do not desire something that isn't yours.
Now, let's try to follow the entirety of these Commandments without taking away or adding anything. Let's take the advice of Jesus, though, and make sure we don't even do any of these things in our imaginations (He tells us it's just as bad to think about it as it is to actually do it).
Question of the Day:
Is there a single one of these Commandments that you haven't ever thought about breaking? Which one(s) do you break most often, whether in your mind or in actuality?
Challenge of the Day:
Be honest with yourself. Whether or not you are a believer, reflect on the past week, the past day, the past hour, the past minute you've spent reading this blog. If you've even thought about doing something you know is wrong, bow before the Cross and accept the forgiveness that Christ offers. Place your sin on Him and let it die with Him.
Prayer of the Day:
Lord, You know my heart and all my imperfections. You know that I am unworthy, yet You have loved me anyway. You have sacrificed Yourself as an everlasting Promise to forgive me. I need that forgiveness. I'm sorry for the way that I've misused the life You've given me. Take my sin up to the cross with You, and let it die with You, so that I may be free from it. Please help me avoid falling back into the same sinful patterns again in the future. I can't live a perfect life without Your help. Amen.
