Deuteronomy 31: The Mark of a Godly Man

"Moses then summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, 'Be strong and courageous, for you will go with this people into the land the Lord swore to give to their fathers.  You will enable them to take possession of it.'"
Deuteronomy 31:7

After giving the book of the Law to the Levites to carry beside the Ark of the Covenant, Moses is ready to give up his command to Joshua, son of Nun.  His time has come, and he knows that the Lord will not allow him to cross the Jordan into the Promised Land.  His life is literally only a few more chapters in length.

Moses has literally spent the ending-streak of his life teaching his people to follow the Lord, and trying to impart his wisdom to the Israelites.  He shows the same kind of behavior we see from any zealous person who has spent significant time with the Lord - the desire to share His ways with everyone, especially the people closest to him.  We see the same quality in many modern-era religious leaders: ministers at our churches, Christian musicians, bible study groups, etc.

Question of the Day:
Do you see this quality in yourself?  Have you spent so much time with the Lord that you can't stop yourself form sharing His teachings with the people around you?

Prayer of the Day:
Lord, I want to have a relationship with You as intimate and devoted as the one Moses had with you, or even more, if You will let me.  I want to know You and love You so much that You are included in everything I say and do.  I want my every action to shine Your light into the world around me.  I want my every word to share Your love, peace, and compassion.  I want my every thought to be pure and holy so that no impurities have any chance of flowing out of my heart.  Amen.
