Pray for Freedom

With laws like SOPA/PIPA looming over the horizon, I think it's important for us to remind our government who granted us the right to liberty - our Creator.  Our founding fathers (who understood this fact) wrote the first amendment, which declares that Congress shall write no laws prohibiting free exercise of religion and speech, as well as others.  These two shall be the focus of my immediate discussion.

If SOPA and PIPA are passed the way that they are currently worded, they would make it legal for the government to shut down entire online agencies based on a single user's content.  In other words, if a single Blogger user posts anything illegal (or offensive to the government, for that matter), the entire Blogger entity could be shut down (including, of course, the blog which you are reading).  This would directly offend my ability to express my religious experiences in the way I have been Called to do, and would be a direct infringement on both of my aforementioned first-amendment rights.

If you want the internet to remain a free and open source of uncensored information instead of a propaganda machine reminiscent of the Chinese and Iranian internet filters, please contact your Congressional representatives and let them know that liberty is more important to their reelection than the entertainment-industry lobbyist support which is backing these laws.  If you have questions about SOPA/PIPA, please check here for answers or Google search for SOPA/PIPA.

Prayer of the Day:
Lord, give us the strength to stand up against the multitude of tyrannical laws that our country has recently passed and is planning on passing in the near future.  Help us to win back our freedom and remember who gave it to us in the first place.  Amen!
