1 Samuel 5: King of Kings, Lord of Hosts

"When the people of Ashdod got up early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen with his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord.  So they took Dagon and returned him to his place."
1 Samuel 5:3

After the Philistines captured the ark, they took it to their temple of Dagon and put it next to his statue.  God sent tumors to the people of the city, killing many, and forced the statue of their god to bow down before His ark two nights in a row.  The Philistines passed the ark from city to city until eventually the Philistine leaders decided that the ark must be returned to its rightful place before the Lord eradicated the lot of them.

Question of the Day:
Have you ever taken anything of God's and put it in a place it doesn't belong?  Have you ever taken advantage of His blessings and claimed ownership of His property?  Have you ever thwarted His will in such a way that He sent plagues against you, whether literally or in the sense of hardship and painful trials?  How did you make the troubles end?  Did you give back what was rightfully His and repent of your evil ways?

Prayer of the Day:
Lord, I give back to You all the blessings which You have given me.  I put my family in its rightful place - as part of Your family which I have the privilege to know and lead.  I put my teaching job in its rightful place - as part of the ministry You created me to be part of so that I could show Your example to the youth before me.  I put my house in its rightful place - as a place to shelter myself and my family not only from physically harmful elements, but from the spiritual decay of the world as well.  I put my own life in its rightful place - as one that has died and been born again in Your service to faithfully follow Your commands each day.  This day, I give my all back to You and repent of my evil ways.  Amen.
