"When you bring to the Lord the grain offering made in any of these ways, it is to be presented to the priest, and he will take it to the altar."
Leviticus 2:8
There were two ways the Israelites gave grain offerings to the Lord. These offerings could either be given as unleavened cakes or wafers made of fine flour (2:4) or as a firstfruit of the crop (fresh heads of grain, crushed kernels, roasted on the fire - 2:14). In either case, oil and frankincense should be included.
These offerings should also be seasoned with salt (commonly used as a preservative) in remembrance of the God's covenant with the people to preserve them.
Question of the Day:
Have you made the personal covenant with the Lord - to follow Him in exchange for His preservation of your soul in eternal life? Do you hold up your end of the bargain? What do you do to remind yourself of your commitment to preserve the Lord's integrity?
Prayer of the Day:
Lord, remind me each day of how You preserve my life for eternity, and hold me accountable for my end of the covenant that we have made. Give me strength, wisdom, and courage to follow Your will for me each day, regardless of how difficult it may seem at the time. Guide those around me as well so that they may not lead me astray from the path which You would have me follow. Amen.
