1 Samuel 7: Immediate Protection

"Samuel was offering the burnt offering as the Philistines drew near to fight against Israel.  The Lord thundered loudly against the Philistines that day and threw them into such confusion that they fled before Israel."
1 Samuel 7:10

Samuel encourages all Israel to give up their false gods and return to the Lord.  In their gathering, as they are repenting and throwing themselves and all their sin to the Lord with their sacrificial lamb, the enemy rises against them.  But the Lord accepts their pleas and immediately throws the enemy into confusion.

Question of the Day:
Have you ever decided to return your heart to the Lord and immediately felt like the enemy was rising up against you?  Do not be afraid, for the Lord will accept your sin offering and He will rise up to protect His servant from His enemies.

Prayer of the Day:
Lord, as we accept Your promise of forgiveness, keep us safe from the temptations, lies, and desires which spring up immediately against us.  Scatter them as You scattered the Philistines, so that we - Your servants - may run them down and destroy them.  Give us power over them and remind us that, although the world battles against us, You have already won the war for our hearts.  Amen.
