"If the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, he is to present to the Lord a young, unblemished bull as a sin offering for the sin he has committed."
Leviticus 4:3
This chapter describes sin offerings that are necessary when the high priest sins and/or when the whole people is lost in a sin. The sin of the leader brings guilt on the whole nation because he should be setting the positive example for his people.
As a teacher, I take this to heart in a strong way. I play a huge leadership role in the lives of my students, and they look up to me for guidance (sometimes more than their own parents). Everything I say or do (both inside and outside of the classroom setting) has an impact on their lives.
Question of the Day:
Are you in any type of authority position over anybody else? Is there anyone who looks up to you as a role model or leader? How does this change your daily actions, knowing that others will see them and act in a similar fashion?
Prayer of the Day:
Help me to set a good example for all who look up to me in any way. Keep me on Your path at all times, and prevent me from stumbling, so that nobody will learn bad habits from me. Protect me, my loved ones, and those who look up to me from all of the devastating influences in the world around us. Amen.
