"I speak with him directly, openly, and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord."
Numbers 12:8
Aaron and Miriam try to rebuke Moses for taking a foreigner for a wife, but the Lord will have none of it. He makes it clear that Moses is the most worthy man in the whole world, the only man worthy of speaking directly with Him.
Question of the Day:
Part of me wonders how counter-intuitive it is for God to speak to the rest of us in riddles. Would it not be better for us if we weren't confused by Him so often? If everything He said to us was a clear-cut, yes-or-no, right-or-wrong command? How much of this mystery does God really give to us, and how much of it do we make up in our own heads?
Prayer of the Day:
Lord, clear my mind of all thoughts that distract me away from Your purpose for me. Guide my actions with precision so that I may see clearly what You would have me do. Have mercy on Your servant, who is not worthy to hear Your voice directly, and who hears only riddles from his Lord. Amen.
