"Take the Levites from among the Israelites and ceremonially cleanse them."
Numbers 8:6
The workers in the Lord's tabernacle must be holy and clean. This is one of the most important factors in keeping the faith of the people strong. How can we be expected to stay pure as a people if the leaders and their closest workers are not pure?
Impurity in the workers of a church is one of the most common reasons why nonbelievers refuse to believe in the message that those same people preach. Outsiders see the hypocrisy immediately, and have no desire to be a part of a system which is corrupt.
But a few good men, in the right place at the right time, can help to draw people towards a cause. This is the story of my own path towards the gospel. I was repulsed by those around me who claimed the authority of the Lord while, in the same sentence, flaunting their impure nature. But there were a few solid examples of what it truly meant to love the Lord. Those leaders helped me become the man I am today.
Question of the Day:
What is hindering you from showing the Lord's greatness to others around you? What is hindering you from seeing the Lord's perfection in those who claim to be His workers? What can you do to change either of these quandaries?
Prayer of the Day:
Direct my speech away from hypocrisy. Help me to acknowledge my sins and flee from them. Help me to avoid the holier-than-thou mentality which so easily consumes Your followers. Help me to be more like Your Son, who lowered Himself to the pit of despair instead of claiming glory. Amen.
